Settled in 1864, Irwin is a borough nestled in the foothills of the Laurel Mountains just 22 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. It borders North Huntington on the north-west and Lincoln Hills in the south. Irwin is known for some of the most extensive bituminous coal deposits in the State and also for it’s great school district. The town lives up to its motto, inviting you to “Find your place here.”

Places to Eat and Things to do in Irwin, PA

There are many things to do in Irwin. From the Irwin Park Amphitheater to Downtown Irwin, there are many activities that will interest any age. There is a Farm Fresh Market on Saturday mornings in Downtown Irwin from June to November.

 

One of the many popular stops in Downtown Irwin, is the Lamp Theatre. The Lamp offers a variety of different shows, from live music to different plays. The Lamp Theatre is actually a historic site in PA, one of five in Irwin. Other historic sites being The Clock Tower, the John Irwin House, Bush Hill, and Main Street.

 

Irwin Park is another popular place in Irwin. Along with the playground, the park also has basketball courts, a deck hockey court, a walking track, tennis court, baseball field and a concert amphitheater. The amphitheater was constructed in 1985 and hold outdoor concerts each year featuring local musical groups. Seating is on blankets or lawn chairs and there is never a charge.

Irwin offers a wide variety of foods.
